From
the Director --
Happy
Lent!
It may
seem odd to see these two words, "Happy" and "Lent"
together, but as Fr.
Bill Mason, OMI preached at MorningStar's Ash Wednesday retreat
this past month: Lent is a time to grow up, to
take real steps to grow up in our faith.
This call to PRAY, FAST, and GIVE has very real and potentially
powerful results to offer not only to ourselves and our own
faith journey, but possibly more importantly to others.
As Fr. Bill stated to the over 60 people attending
the Ash Wednesday Retreat, when our faith
begins to move us beyond ourself, when the Love of God becomes
visible to another through us, that is when our faith has
started to grow up! And that brings true happiness!
At MorningStar
we see the gifts of this type of faith everyday through the
generosity of our wonderful volunteers!
Not a day goes by in retreat ministry that numerous dedicated
and nearly anonymous volunteers offer their time and their
love to wash a dish (or a couple hundred!) clean a table,
fold laundry, serve a meal, and share a smile. We could
never thank our volunteers enough. But we would like
to highlight some of our shinning stars in our newsletters
from time to time.
So, you
want to know what makes MorningStar shine? It's people like.
. .
Ida Alicia
Ida has been serving
as a volunteer since MorningStar's inception nearly 5 years
ago. Often coming in and helping in different capacities,
Ida has served meals, washed dishes, and even in a pinch prepared
meals! MorningStar thrives because of the generosity
of volunteers like Ida. We couldn't do it, indeed we
wouldn't BE MorningStar without YOU. Thanks Ida!
Thank you to all our volunteers!
In Jesus, our Bright MorningStar,
Sue S. DeFerrari
